Building 429 – “We Won’t Be Shaken” (Devotional)

A benefit for those who had lost family members in the Sandy Hook Elementary school shootings was the first show we played this year. It really knocked some things loose in my heart. 10,000 people were there, and the families of the children who were murdered were there as well.  The LordΓÇÖs will be doneΓǪ that much was obvious as the night went on.

What wasnΓÇÖt so obvious at the beginning???  What were we supposed to say?  Was anything too much, and what would be too little?  Backstage there was a sense of togetherness.  We were all confident that God would show up, but no one knew exactly how.  But stillΓǪHow would they respond?  How should we approach it?

Funny the way that God works though.  We think we have to have the answersΓǪ. But thatΓÇÖs where we mess up.  ItΓÇÖs not about planning the perfect sermon itΓÇÖs about getting out of the way and allowing Him to move. ΓÇ£Seek and you will find, Knock and the door will be openedΓÇ¥ that was my biggest prayer for an area that is deeply non-religious.  ΓÇ£Lord let them have open heartsΓǪ. Let them be willing to knock tonightΓÇ¥

That saidΓǪ donΓÇÖt ever doubt your ability to be a vessel that God uses even in the darkest moments of another personΓÇÖs life.

Just remember that we are told to ΓÇ£Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not unto our own understanding.  In all your ways submit to Him and He will make your path straightΓÇ¥ Proverbs 3:5-6.

Maybe you donΓÇÖt understand, but you can trust.  Maybe your afraid to sit and cry with the broken hearted, but you can submit to his will. ItΓÇÖs not about youΓǪ. your answers, or your thoughtsΓǪ. His are so much higher than oursΓǪ. so, TRUST HIM and be what HeΓÇÖs called you to be. His Hands and Feet.

WeΓÇÖll never forget that night as long as we liveΓǪ we hope and pray that the effects are lingering still. In conclusion, for Newtown, CT our prayers continue and though we still donΓÇÖt have all the answersΓǪ we know the one who does. Stand firm in your faithΓǪ. Fight for what is right and trueΓǪ Never lay down, never give upΓǪ. Our God will have the final victory.  Our battle cry is this:

The Lord is my rock and my salvation.  He is my fortress and I will NEVER BE SHAKEN.

Psalm 62:2
