Elle & Tom Limebear – Latch On To God (Devotional)

Latch On To God

ΓÇ£The name with no end or beginning, steady when my world in spinning- right here with me, still right here with meΓÇ¥

If you don’t have something to latch on to, to anchor your life on, it can feel like you’re constantly being thrown around by the circumstances of life.

Life can be pretty turbulent, full of sudden ups and downs, highs and lows, circumstances and detours that can throw you off. If you donΓÇÖt have something to latch on to, to anchor your life on, it can feel like youΓÇÖre constantly being thrown around by the circumstances of life.

When I (Tom) was 16 years old a friend of mine was diagnosed with cancer and passed away 9 months later. It was a circumstance that no one could see coming and something that as a 16 year old nothing could prepare me for. At the time, I really struggled. I didnΓÇÖt know what to do to process my feelings of grief, loss and hurt. So I turned to the things that I thought the world pointed us to, to make us feel better. I spent the next few years of my life floating from party to party, from one big night out to the next. All in all, I was lost. As Elle mentioned in yesterdayΓÇÖs devotional I got invited to a church event, later gave my life to Jesus and IΓÇÖve never looked back. My circumstance didnΓÇÖt change, but what I latched on to did.

When I gave my life to Jesus, in that moment I latched myself on to him, I anchored myself with him and everything changed.

Hebrews 6:19 says ΓÇ£We have this certain hope like a strong, unbreakable anchor holding our souls to God himself.ΓÇ¥ This was the missing piece of the puzzle for me. Prior to knowing Jesus, I had latched my hope onto something that was temporary, something that changes with the wind. When I gave my life to Jesus, in that moment I latched myself on to him, I anchored myself with him and everything changed.

Remember today, God has latched on to you. He will never let you go. He is thinking of you every moment of every day.

Remember today, God has latched on to you. He will never let you go. He is thinking of you every moment of every day. Psalm 139:17-18 reminds us of this truth: ΓÇ£Every single moment you are thinking of me! How precious and wonderful to consider that you cherish me constantly in you every thought! O God, your desires towards me are more than the grains of sand on every shore!ΓÇ¥

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you that you are completely steady when my world is spinning. Today, I choose again to put all my hope in you, for you are the anchor of my life and my soul. In Jesus Name, Amen.
