Mosaic MSC – Mercy (Devotional)

(Isaiah 30)

MERCY

But GodΓÇÖs not finished. HeΓÇÖs waiting around to be gracious to you. HeΓÇÖs gathering strength to show mercy to you. God takes the time to do everything rightΓÇöeverything. Those who wait around for Him are the lucky ones.

Isaiah 30:18 (MSG)

Mercy is compassion or forgiveness shown toward someone who is deserving of the opposite.

When you chose to truly share who you are with others, itΓÇÖs a whole new dimension of vulnerability.

Choosing to step into relationships and community is a lot like looking into a magnified mirror for the first time. All the good (and not so good parts) about you are magnified in ways they never have been before. When you chose to truly share who you are with others, itΓÇÖs a whole new dimension of vulnerability.

Jesus continually gives me mercy when I mess up or I don’t deserve it.

Vulnerability demands mercy ΓÇô everyone needs space and compassion to grow, become better, and develop a deeper sense of character. My community at Mosaic has shown me this mercy over and over again. Jesus continually gives me mercy when I mess up or I donΓÇÖt deserve it.

GodΓÇÖs waiting around to be gracious to us. His strength carries us when we canΓÇÖt go any further.

The song Mercy on our record Heaven is a song rejoicing that God gives us His compassion and forgiveness when itΓÇÖs always in His power to choose differently. HeΓÇÖs waiting around to be gracious to us. His strength carries us when we canΓÇÖt go any further.

Being in relationship with Jesus and being in relationship with other people who are striving to be like Jesus are two of the most humbling and beautiful things IΓÇÖve ever said yes to. IΓÇÖd wait around on that forever!

ACTION

When is a time you felt youΓÇÖve been extended mercy? How can you take the compassion and kindness you were shown and apply it to something or someone you are in relationship with this week?

PRAYER

God, thank You for showing us compassion and forgiveness when we least deserve it. Thank You for loving us and giving us strength with Your strength. Help us to patiently wait on You and to always be working to extend Your mercy to those around us.
