Red Rocks Worship – Day Two (Devotional)

The bridge of the song, ΓÇ£How Beautiful Your Grace,ΓÇ¥ is a declaration of our worth to Christ. So many times we fix our eyes on our mistakes, we hold onto our shame, and distance ourselves from God. In Luke 15:17-21, the Prodigal Son has come to his senses and plans to return home. When he meets his father, he says, ΓÇ£Father, I have sinned against Heaven and before you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.ΓÇ¥ IsnΓÇÖt that how we feel most days? When we return to our Heavenly Father, a lot of times we feel like we have to do it with our heads down. We expect God to be angry with us, to condemn us, to make us earn His approval once again. The truth is, God does the exact opposite. He celebrates our return! In Luke 15:22-24, the father welcomes his son home with open arms! He tells his servants to roll out the red carpet, ΓÇ£Bring quickly the best robe, and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet.ΓÇ¥ They throw a house party to honor his sonΓÇÖs return home.

Red Rocks Worship “Right Here Right Now” Day Three (Devotional)

The past couple of days weΓÇÖve talked about the power of GodΓÇÖs presenceΓÇöthat itΓÇÖs the destination for healing, for life change, and for Heaven to meet earth. There are those moments in songs where you feel the transcendence of God become immanent, and you realize just how personal and profound our faith is. What I love about ΓÇ£Right Here, Right NowΓÇ¥ is that the focus isnΓÇÖt just personal, itΓÇÖs communal. Notice the collective language throughout the song: our attention, our affection, we wonΓÇÖt hesitate, we seek You, our worship pouring out.

Red Rocks Worship “Right Here Right Now” Day Two (Devotional)

Have you ever had a moment when you really just didnΓÇÖt know what to do? Maybe you felt like the circumstances of life were completely out of your hands. You worked really hard, thought you did all of the right things, but still felt like you were spinning your wheels? If so, you are not alone! IΓÇÖve been there many times myself! Often, we feel that we have to work extra hard to make all good things happen for ourselves. We act as though the weight of the world is on our shoulders, and if we donΓÇÖt work hard enough, compete with our peers, pray enough, etc, then, we wonΓÇÖt have and be all that we are meant to be. That lifestyle is exhausting and unfulfilling!

Red Rocks Worship “Right Here Right Now” Day One (Devotional)

Jesus came to this earth so that we could experience the Presence of God in its fullness. Before Him, only the high priests were allowed to enter the holy place. Relationship with humanity is why Jesus endured the cross. And yet, we often deem ourselves too broken or too messy to run close to God. We are determined to wait until we ΓÇ£get ourselves togetherΓÇ¥ in order to seek after Him, but even when we feel at our worst, we are enough to Jesus.

Red Rocks Worship “Not Afraid” Day Three (Devotional)

There is a climactic moment in ΓÇ£Not AfraidΓÇ¥ when we declare that no matter the situation we find ourselves in, God will never leave us or forsake us. The poetry of Psalm 139 captures this beautifully, ΓÇ£You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me.ΓÇ¥ The psalmist later marvels at the wonderful reassurance that they can never be lost to God. ΓÇ£If I ascend to heaven you are there! If I make my bed in the place of the dead, you are there!ΓÇ¥ There is no place we can go where the strength and support of God will not faithfully follow us.
